UTLL 2008 TRYOUTS March 8, 2008 at Mound Westonka High School
Again this year, baseball/softball tryouts will be an important part of presenting a sound, fun and safe experience for our kids. While sometimes the tryout process is nervously seen as purely competitive, its main purpose is to ensure that there will be as much parity as possible at each level of play, allowing each team to be competitive and each player a relatively equal opportunity to play. It also serves to group kids on teams where the less skilled players aren’t in over their heads, while more adept players can continue to hone their skills.
Minor A, B and Major League Baseball Tryouts 11-12 year olds 9:00 to 10:30 10 year olds 10:30 to 12:00 9 year olds 12:00 to 1:30 * 8 year olds may tryout to participate in Minor B League (9 year olds), but will be placed on a team only if numbers allow. Girls Minor and Major League Softball Tryouts 9-12 year olds 1:30-3:00 *8 year old girls may tryout to participate in soft ball leagues, but will
be placed on a team only if numbers allow.
*Please arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled tryout time for the check-in process.
Skills to be evaluated will include Batting, Timed Running, Ground Ball & Fly Ball Fielding, Throwing and Pitching. This format has worked well the last 3 seasons, but each year we seem to be able to make some refinements. So, if you have some ideas that would benefit the UTLL kids please let us know at 962.472.5512 or email: mikehoh@utll.org. We also need 20 volunteers to make this event run smoothly. Thank you again for supporting UTLL, Mike Hoh–Player Advocate
